Welcome to Bush Babies Childcare, a family-owned and operated childcare centre in the beautiful Lower Blue Mountains.
Bush Babies has been part of the local community since opening in 1992 under Cheryl and Ian Cruwys, and is now proudly run by their children, Robyn Hayward and Jim Cruwys. We are committed to continuing this long-standing service and supporting families in the community for generations to come.
With over 30 years of experience, we are proud of the relationships we have built with children and families over time. We continue to review and strengthen the care we provide, and have expanded our services to include two before and after-school care services in the local area.
Choosing childcare is an important decision for any family. We encourage parents and children to visit our centre, experience the environment, and see whether Bush Babies feels like the right fit for your family.
Why Us?

Bush Babies offers large, airy, and open classrooms to accommodate the large variety of activities specifically designed to stimulate the imagination and enhance motor skills. Our large playground has been designed to subtly teach not only gross motor skills, but also to develop environmental awareness. We provide healthy food for the children, which includes our own grown vegetables and eggs from our chickens.
How to Enrol?

Families can enrol by joining our waitlist and contacting us to discuss availability. We welcome visits to the centre so you can see the environment and meet the team. You can learn more about the enrolment process here or click the button below to join the waitlist.
Who are we?

Owned and operated by Robyn Hayward and Jim Cruwys. Our affordable rates include all meals, materials, fun, and cuddles that your child is likely to need. Bush Babies Childcare is fortunate to be situated on a small acreage in the leafy and quiet suburb of Warrimoo, just a hop, skip, and jump from the railway station and John Wycliffe Christian School.
School Can Wait… Let the children play
We believe that children learn best when they are given the time and freedom to play, explore, and simply be children. Early childhood is not about rushing towards formal learning, but about building the foundations that support it — confidence, curiosity, resilience, and a genuine love of learning.
Through play and experiences in the natural environment, children make sense of the world around them. They learn by experimenting, imagining, moving, asking questions, and solving problems in their own way. Our role as educators is to support this process by creating rich environments, offering guidance when needed, and allowing children the space to lead their own learning.
By giving children the opportunity to play, explore, and follow their interests, we help them develop the skills they need for school and life — without taking away the joy, wonder, and innocence of childhood.

“I am so happy with the excellent care Zachary receives while he is at Bush Babies. The staff are very loving and attentive. He loves the outside play areas – the veggie garden and chickens are a highlight for him as well as the huge variety of bikes and toys to play with. I would recommend Bush Babies to any family looking for 5-star child care in the Blue Mountains.”
